Assessment rationale/justification
Very sparsely distributed and rarely seen - presume lower density than Senrengeti Mara ecosystem. Only one geographical region of Uganda. Historical records for Pian Upe and KVNP. Presume a decline, due to likelihood of disease and also due to lack of sightings in previous range. Numbers likely to be very small - occur in isolated pairs. Genetic continuity may also be a problem but range unknown. If numbers known may be upgraded
