Having only been recorded from one locality (in the Ru'us al-Jibal) in the UAE, in addition to being considered to be rare, a detailed distribution of this species needs to be confirmed. It is currently assessed as Data Deficient.

Taxon distribution as listed in assessment
Within the UAE, it has been recorded from Wadi Bih in the Ru'us al-Jibal (Böer and Chaudhary 1999). Mandaville recorded the species from two heavily anthropogenic sites nearby in Oman; all records are low elevation sites. The native range of this species spans from Jordan to southwest Iran (Board of Trustees, RBG Kew 2019).

It is an annual species that can grow up to 50 cm in height. The lower leaves of the plant are divided into lobes and purple flowers are present between February and April (Jongbloed et al. 2003). It is typically found growing within the mountains (Jongbloed et al. 2003).
