Allactaga elater is threatenedby habitat degradation and severe weather conditions.This species has an extent of occurrence of less than 5,000km2 (approximately 2,000 km2), is restricted to fewer thanfi ve locations, and is experiencing a continuing declinein habitat extent and quality, qualifying it as Endangeredunder Criterion B1ab(iii). The assessment remainsunchanged following application of regional criteria asthere is no signifi cant immigration from adjacent countries.
