This rare species has been recorded by Jongbloed from the foothills of the Ru'us al-Jibal (Jongbloed et al. 2003) and is considered to be restricted to this area (Feulner 2011). The global distribution of this species is from the north-east and east of tropical Africa, to the Arabian Peninsula, Pakistan and north-west India (Board of Trustees, RBG Kew 2019).

This is an annual species which has white-blue flowers present between February to April (Jongbloed et al. 2003). It has oval leaves with smooth edges, in addition to variable shaped fruit (Jongbloed et al. 2003). It is found growing in gravel and silt among rocks (Jongbloed et al. 2003).

This species is known only from a single record from the foothills of the Ru'us al-Jibal. Further research is needed to confirm if this is the only instance of the species within the country, or whether it has a wider distribution, would help to accurately assess the species' extinction risk in the UAE. Therefore, it is currently assessed as Data Deficient.
