The Natural Science Institute of Iceland (IINH)), part of the Ministry of the Environment, Energy and Climate has responsibility for a broad range of research and monitoring activities which include assessing the conservation status of species, geological formations, habitats, and ecosystems. The Icelandic National Red List Data Stewardship Group consists of seven IINH staff members responsible for data submissions on birds, flora, and mammals, with guidance from two department leads.
