Assessment rationale/justification
Although recent records relate to three different tetrads, these are contiguous and can be considered to represent a single location for the purposes of IUCN assessment. As a result, the species does qualify for VU under criterion D2, as it is plausible that a future threat could drive the taxon to RE in a short time. Moreover, currently the species is considered endemic to Britain and hence the risk is that a future threat could drive the taxon to become globally extinct. Otherwise, estimates of change to inform assessments against Criterion A are not possible and there is no information on population size for use with Criteria C or D1, nor any life history model to inform an assessment against Criterion E. Both EOO and AOO are extremely small but although there is only one effective location and CR might be plausible, there is insufficient data to demonstrate population fragmentation, fluctuation or continuing decline.
