Assessment rationale/justification
Benson (1952) considered this to be a very scarce species, occurring north to Lincolnshire. It has subsequently been found widely as far north as Dundee, and west to Devon and Anglesey, suggesting that a significant range expansion occurred. However, the data now support a status of Vulnerable, based on an estimated reduction of 48% of the AOO between 2012 and 2022, the causes of which are not understood. The assessment end-year was moved forward to 2022 as a record in this year made a difference to the IUCN status (consistent with the overall assessment approach).
